June 3-4  (Mozambique) Xai-Xai

June 5-11  (SA) African Wildlife College
June 11-13  (SA) Blyde River Canyon
June 13  (SA) Back in Johannesburg to fly out that evening

Mon. May 17 First half day: WITS AM lectures on history of earth,
hominids and culture; Origins Center History of the Earth (3
hours) (lunch on own)

Second half day WITS: lectures prep for excavation –
Christine Steininger and colleagues

Evening: Newtown/FIETAS tour (PM – Dinner in Fietas,
Nazir tour)
Tues. May 18 Sterkfontien Caves and Cooper, Excavation at Cooper

Debrief on dig/Evening speaker: HIV/AIDS (Murray Cairns at
RWV)

Wed. May 19 Rustenberg Platinum Mines (To be confirmed – social,
economic and industrial)

Afternoon visit community/township: Springs/Catelehong
(CAS to confirm w/ Salim – bring ERP members to meet
community) – Stop in Pretoria to hear from Dr. Saidi

Thur. May 20 RAU Math & Science Academy (8-10am) Energy Day:
Alexandra Energy and Safety Program visit and foot survey
of surrounding community; (Early Afternoon)

Fri. May 21 SOWETO (AM tour with Sue Krige)
The Colored Experience (PM with Deborah Meyer)

Dinner at SALIM’s – BCM, NATASHA, ERP, SARAH

Sat. May 22 Dinner in Melville Apartheid Museum (AM with Phil Bonner)

 Constitution Hill Tour (Early Afternoon); Rosebank Mall –
dinner on own and film festival in evening.

Sun. May 23 On the road 9am – stop for lunch – before Polokwane.
Stop at Tropic of Capricorn – scavenger hunt

Evening: dinner with Thakani et al. at Shiluvari

Wed. May 26 Morning in Prof. Mahoko’s village; Afternoon with Farmer
cooperative at Mukungo’s farm with Dr. Francis, Mukungu
and Takani

Thur. May 27  Presentations from and visits with Global Sustainability Club
at the University of Venda; Presentations on Baobab Oil
Women’s Cooperative and visit to Big Tree

Fri. May 28 Evening: Lalapanzi – with speaker on US role in Boer War
(TBD) or Peter Menne from Elim hospital

Sat. May 29  Deep Venda Day, Mutale River Area, Albert Munyai

Sun. May 30 First Test (AM);
Visit to the PhiPhidi Falls and Braai in afternoon with GSC

4:30am depart.
